• Construction of classrooms, nursery schools or libraries

Twiga seeks to improve the quality of eduction.
She does this by:
• Reducing number of pupils in lower primary classes by employing extra class teachers (CT) and class assistants (CA)
• Employing remedial teachers (RT) in lower primary to assist slow learning children
• Employing remedial teacher (RT) in uppe primary to assist fast learners to prepare them for KCPE exam
Teachers contract: At first a trial term. After proven qualification they get a contract for one year. After that a contract for indefinite time.
The RT programm is developed by Miriam and the volunteers Annemieke van der Gronden en Ellen Mulders.
The method includes the training of the prospected RT’s.
The training stresses merely an attitude change in approach of the slow learning child.
• The RT has to find creative ways to trigger the child to learn the objectives.
No endless repeating of one and the same way.
• Teaching is a tailormade creative process in which there has to be eye for the individual child. The RT has to teach individual children not a group.
Objective: to give extra support to slowlearning children from standard 1 or 2 in the 4 competences of language: reading – writing – listening and speaking. This to avoid them to become drop-outs which would mean they will lead a life of illiteracy.
The Top-10 of each class gets support in all subjects to enlarge chances to reach the criterium of >400 at KCPE exam to be allowed into the Twiga scolarship programm for National High schools
